Baby Hobgood: 31 weeks!

It has been quite a while! We kept having little updates and things happening in my pregnancy that I wanted to include all in one post. I will go ahead and get to that...because it is a lot!

A couple of weeks ago, I took my one hour glucose test. It wasn't even half as bad as I expected or heard from others. The drink was sugary and yeah no one likes getting their blood drawn. But hey, it was quick, I was thirsty and getting your blood drawn isn't as big deal as I used to make it out to be. ;-) So I left thinking I had for sure passed. WRONG. I got a call a week later saying I had to come back for the three hour glucose test. (PANIC.) Prick, drink a bigger drink, wait an hour, prick, wait an hour, prick, and last hour, and another prick. Yep, blood drawn 4 times in one morning and lunch came around and I was starved and weak. Then that evening I got a call saying I passed with flying colors. Praise God!

From the first glucose test...I failed! HA!

Last Wednesday, Heath and I met my sweet friend (and photographer) Helen Byrd to take our maternity pictures. Huge thank you to her for driving to Lubbock for the evening and for making this preggo girl feel beautiful after we week of being pricked and swelling. Here are a few sneak peeks, I cannot wait to show more...they are so perfect!

Over the weekend, we got to celebrate my sister in law Kelsey and her little girl Harper at their baby shower. I can't even believe this weekend came so fast for both of us! I am so excited to be an aunt and especially to a sweet baby girl! Cannot wait for them to grow up together! The next day, we were blessed with the most beautiful baby shower. We received so many wonderful gifts and things for Griffin. I am so overwhelmed by the love and support by family and friends. There were people we love and cherish all in one room and that is all that mattered...more the gifts and the things we received. I will let the pictures do the talking!

Kelsey and Harper's baby shower!

Details of our baby shower!

my wonderful parents!

My amazing MIL!

My mom and Granna!

Our hostesses that we are so thankful for!

Couldn't live without this woman!

All this stuff...such a blessing!

The ladies of our family (minus a couple)!

Then Tuesday came around and we had a routine prenatal check up and our 30 week anatomy scan. We were really excited to see Griff again since the last time we saw them was at 20 weeks! At our routine appointment with our OB, they check your blood pressure and urine cultures at every check up. I have had somewhat of high blood pressure almost every appointment, but usually after taking it a few times it goes down. At first, we thought it was just because doctor offices make me nervous and after sitting there a while and relaxing it would go down. Well this appointment my BP was higher than normal and stayed in the same range for the four times they took it. Then my urine detected protein. Plus I had gained a little more than normal and swelling had begun to set in all the sudden the past week. When this happens in pregnancy there is a chance that you have developed preeclampsia. If you don't know anything about it...it can be very serious and sometimes can result in preterm labor or early induction. So first reaction from my (seriously amazing might I add) OB was to send me off to get labs done and do a 24 hour urine culture at home. So that we did after we went to our 30 week ultrasound was over...which was really great. He is measuring well and growing! It was a relief and a blessing to having him healthy and actually measuring a little ahead. I am not worried about me...I was more concerned about him! So I got pricked one more time for a blood draw and wished for the best! This morning, I went in to see my OB to see how the results were and get my BP and urine tested again. We received the best "bad" news possible. My labs came back okay, no red flags right now. Although, my blood pressure was slightly higher than earlier this week...which is not good. She told me I have gestational hypertension and this can sometimes turn into preeclampsia. So now we are going to be doing weekly visits with my OB and monitoring my blood pressure at home everyday. I received steroid shots in case of him having to come earlier than term to help him grow. And of course, we would hate for this to be the case and would love for him to cook for at least a quite few more weeks! (Can we get dad through these last few weeks of the semester to graduate Griff?...and even longer?) ;-) So plan of action is just monitoring me closer and hopefully slowing down these next few weeks to keep my blood pressure down. No need for bed rest right now but it is a possibility in the near future.

So to say the least it has been quite a crazy and jam-packed week for us! We are thankful for good news today and to top it off we received our nursery furniture to make the day better!

If you can join us in praying that my blood pressure doesn't get any higher and even go down so that Griffin will get to stay in longer/full term! Also can you pray for Heath as he finishes this last little bit of school before graduation without extreme stress about school or anxiety about Griff coming early. Just prayers for peace for him so we can get to point of just celebrating everything he has accomplished!

Furniture arrived and room ready to be decorated!

Sweet little nose and lips...and he has hair!

This week, baby is the size of a: head of lettuce! (18 in, 3.2 lbs!)
Due date: January 17th, 2014
How far along: 31 weeks
Next appointment: November 20th
Gender: ITS A BOY!!!!
Total weight gain/loss:
Stretch marks: None yet!
Swelling: Swelling started in my hands and feet this past week...which meant getting a temporary band to wear because my sweet little wedding ring only fits if I drink 40 gallons of water.
Maternity clothes: Yes of course! The past few weeks have resulted in a huge growth spurt for him...which equals momma growing as well!
Belly button: Haha! I keep thinking its going to be here at week 28...then 28, 29, and 30 passed and still no flat belly button. But really this time, it will be at 33 weeks for sure! ;-)
Sleep: It is okay! I wake up early on a regular basis. I suppose that is preparing me for motherhood! My hips are started to get sore after laying on one side for too long.
Food cravings/aversions: Donuts and fruit? Haha!
Movement: All the time. Now the movements have turned from just kicks and jabs to stretching and pushing and more rolling and flipping. His little feet like my right side of my ribs. I still have to say its pretty amazing.
Wedding ring: Off :-( and replaced with a cheap-o diamond band from Dillards!
What I miss: Not feeling puffy? Haha! That may be so strange...but I wake up feeling like I was blown up like a ballon.
What I'm loving: Everything. Trying to enjoy every little bit left of this pregnancy. 9 weeks seems like nothing right now and I don't want it to fly by too fast. Not that I don't want him to be here, I just want to savor the holidays spending time with Heath before he starts working and also with our families.
What I'm looking forward to: Finishing up Griffin's room! We got a lot of goodies for him this past weekend at our shower and we have put up things we can put away and we got our furniture too! Granna has all the fabric for the bedding, so that will probably be done sooner than later! So thankful for that lady!
Best moment this week: So much goodness from this week. We took our Maternity pictures with my sweet friend Helen Byrd last Wednesday. Thursday, I had to retake the glucose test (yes, the 3 hour one!) and ended up passing. Praise the sweet Lord! Saturday, I got to celebrate my sister in law and my niece-to-be Harper Anne at their baby shower! Sunday, we had the honor of attending our OWN baby shower. It was overwhelming-ly beautiful and perfect. We received so much love, well wishes, and of course gifts! Feeling blessed by those who have supported and loved us through this season. There is nothing more comforting than having loved ones ushering us into a new place in our life. Tuesday, we had our 30 week ultrasound. And today is 31 weeks AND we got our nursery furniture!
Milestones: AH! So many...hello! All that stuff listed above!
